Cetera Financial Group, is seeking a Systems Engineer to support Infrastructure environment with primary focus on backup and monitoring. This is an exciting opportunity to work with some of the leading technologies, including: Avamar, Datadomain, CA UIM, VCE vBlock, CISCO UCS, Nutanix, EMC storage, VMware, Microsoft and others in a multi-site datacenters.   Successful candidates will have Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of IT infrastructure design and administration experience, delivering on projects and providing excellent customer service.   What you will do: 

  1. Primary SME for all aspects of backup infrastructure, including upgrades and capacity planning
  2. Manage monitoring solutions and ensure all infrastructure components are being monitored
  3. Lead an evaluation of monitoring products and provide recommendation for best fit for the environment
  4. Manage antivirus software as it relates to server infrastructure
  5. Plans and manages workloads, projects, and other administrative tasks associated with the VMware and Windows environments
  6. Provides subject matter expertise in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of all issues related to the Backup, VMware and Windows environments
  7. Automate routine tasks as it relates to Server engineering by using Powershell scripts and others
  8. Monitor VMware performance and provide recommendations of continuous improvements
  9. Independently manage multiple Infrastructure Projects and provide weekly updates
  10. Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books, root cause analysis and other technical engineering documents
  11. Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes
  12. Work with vendor technical support on advanced technical issues
  13. Supporting a wide variety of enterprise applications and infrastructuretechnologies
  14. Train, Mentor, Delegate and provide guidance to NOC L1 and L2 Engineers

 

Qualifications

 What you need to have: 

  • Experience with backup of different clients such VMware, Windows, Linux, SQL, Oracle, CIFS and NFS using Avamar and datadomain or similar backup solutions
  • Experience with Infrastructure monitoring solutions such as CA UIM, Whatsup Gold and VMware vRealize or others
  • Experience with SCCM 2012 Administration specifically as it relates to server patching
  • Experience managing and optimizing VMWare Infrastructure 5.5 or higher
  • Experience with Windows2008 – 2012 R2 Server administration
  • Experience with Monitoring solutions such VMware vRealize
  • Solid understanding of essential TCP/IP protocols: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, and understanding of wider set protocols.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, latency)
  • Effective communications and documentation skills in a compliance-regulated environment
  • Experience with Multi Active Directory and Group Policy administration and troubleshooting
  • Excellent planning, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work after hours, nights, weekends and provide emergency response support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year when required
