The Senior IT License & Financial Analyst is responsible for the analyzing and tracking of software and other technology licenses/assets within the organization. S/he partners with key business leaders to track, manage, analyze, and evaluate software licenses and hardware assets using organizational financial, supply chain, and software asset management tools.  Provides expertise and guidance around procedures and best practices around tracking the life cycle of IT assets and licenses. This position will ensure asset and license usage is meeting agreed upon levels within the parameters of the organization.


  • Drives the development and implementation of license policies and procedures and other IT Asset Management tracking and reporting
  • Supports the maintenance of a centralized database/repository of IT hardware assets, equipment, and licenses
  • Adjusts and communicates excess licenses as needed with software licensing terms
  • Performs pricing and options comparison options to IT leadership and the business
  •        a.Partners with finance to understand ROI and total cost of ownership
  • Leads the collaboration of stakeholder groups, supply chain, and IT management to help identify and analyze opportunities for improved license usage and cost savings
  •        a.Drives license pricing strategies and cost saving targets
  •        b.Make recommendations on improvements or cost-saving strategies to the license and asset management process
  • Support the development, definition, and execution of license and asset management standards and best practices
  • Determines key metrics to continually evaluate effectiveness of asset management plans and strategies
  • Perform periodic reviews and audits of organization’s IT licenses
  • Monthly reporting of major and critical changes to software licensing
  •        a.Reconciles changes in licenses to annual budget plans and provides timely communication to leadership of financial impact
  • Monitors procurement and deployment of software and other IT related assets
  • Support/leads contract renewals and licensing true-ups
  • Educate business and IT partners on license management/ITAM best practices and policies
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 5 years in procurement, contracting, or IT asset and software management
  • 3 years’ financial management/analysis
  • 3 years’ experience in licensing


  • An approved equivalent of education and experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of life cycle management for software, license, and IT assets.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify trends and interpret data
  • Excellent problem solving and organization skills
  • High level attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong teamwork skills, including the ability to establish and sustain successful working relationships with senior leadership 
  • Must be approachable and a good listener and teacher – being able to communicate at a level of understanding of the audience, including both technical and non-technical individuals

Leadership Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Proven experience in IT asset and license management 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communication effectively with senior level positions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task and support multiple projects while updating management and customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable track record of success in a similar role
  • Capable of supporting the work of the department 
  • High standard of ethics, discipline, and professionalism


  • Master’s degree 
  • Ten years of IT licensing
  • Experience with ServiceNow and/or similar ITSM Suite
  • Experience with and/or understanding of Configuration Management (CMDB)
  • Experience with Microsoft, Oracle and Adobe licensing a plus
  • ITSM/ITIL knowledge a plus

License / Certifications:

  • Certified (or formally trained) in Microsoft, Oracle, and/or Epic licensing (where applicable)
