General Description of the Job Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Business, the Director of the MBA Program is responsible for the overall management and strategic process of the program to ensure it is in alignment with the university’s academic and professional goals. The reorganization of the MBA Program will be a pivotal task for this position to develop and implement an effective, innovative system which includes but not limited to recruitment, marketing, operations, communication, community engagement, academic development, budget control and finance. As the leader of the MBA program, the director will work with the faculty, staff and leadership team to review existing processes to determine if appropriate for efficiency gains in the program. Collaboration with other DSU academic and administrative offices such as Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts and administration to accelerate the flow of student information to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Essential Functions The following are essential responsibilities of the directors’ position. In conjunction with the faculty and Dean of the College Business, the director manages and provides strategic direction to the MBA Program: 1. Provide strategic, operational expertise and oversight of the MBA Program. 2. Coordinates program implementation, enrollment, management curriculum, innovation and development, and assurance of learning through program assessment in partnership with faculty, advisory committees and department chairs. 3. Develop marketing and recruitment initiatives for the continued enhancement and growth of the MBA Program, which includes outreach strategies for promoting the program internationally as well as in the U.S. 4. Serve as a representative for DSU in community development events, international programs that will showcase the university and identify opportunities to expand the MBA program. 5. Process MBA applications in accordance with MBA admission standard, and submit student admission recommendations to the Office of the Dean for approval. 6. Understand and uphold AACSB accreditation standards in MBA Program offering, at the main campus as well as other sites where the MBA program is offered. 7. Maintain strong communication with COB faculty and administration. Develop class schedules in conjunction with academic Department Chairs that meet the needs of the program and students. 8. Coordinate with academic Department Chairs to assure the quality of instruction and proper credentialing of all MBA faculty. 9. Assist in mediation and resolution of student and personnel issues to assure due diligence and fundamental fairness. 10. Provide orientation and mentoring of MBA faculty 11. Assist in the recruiting and hiring of MBA faculty Qualification Standards (Minimum) 1. Minimum of a doctoral degree in an area represented in the College of Business. 2. Demonstrated record of teaching, research, service, and leadership to merit appointment to the position and advanced rank. 3. A strong knowledge of business practice and accreditation prescribed by the AACSB. 4. Proven track record in teaching and working with a diverse student population. 5. Demonstrated commitment to student success. 6. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with departmental and university faculty and staff. 7. Excellent communication and writing skills, follow through and responsiveness of tasks required, cultural sensitivity to participants of the program. 8. Ability to travel locally and internationally. 9. Commitment to the MBA program and DSU are essential. Qualification Standards (Preferred) 1. An MBA or equivalent degree is required. 2. A minimum of 7 to 10 years professional experience in academia, private or public sector is highly desirable. 3. Experience directing or working with an MBA program from an AACSB-accredited school is preferred. Performance Standards The criteria for evaluation in this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Demonstrate knowledge of DSU Fundamentals 2. Meet enrollment targets 2. Manage the budget for the MBA Program 3.
