I. Position Summary: This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and controls the activities of the Facilities management department. This includes construction, grounds and plant engineering to provide services, repair and maintenance necessary to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the hospital and clinic facilities. Director is also responsible for maintaining a comfortable physical environment for patients, employees, medical staff and the public in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, budgetary requirements, and applicable local, state and federal building, safety and hospital codes. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

II. Position Requirements:

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: None

B. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or business field or equivalent experience in a health care setting.

C. Experience: Minimum of 5 years management experience in a health care setting with demonstrated experience in budget management, performance improvement and operations effectiveness.

D. Special Qualifications: Knowledge of medical terminology and technology, budget preparation, laws and regulations relative to safety management, equipment management, security management and emergency preparedness. Must have effective verbal and written communication in order to communicate a clear concise manner with staff, employees, patients, public, physicians and administration. EPA. Knowledge of hospital mechanical systems, including utility management and control system, HVAC systems, medical gases, electrical distribution, emergency power, fire protection/alarm system.

III. Degree of supervision required: Minimal supervision, individual proceeds on his/her own initiative in compliance with policies, procedures, and practices prescribed by immediate supervisor.
