Kforce has a client seeking a CNC Programmer - Machinist in Tucson, Arizona (AZ). The CNC Programmer-Machinist is responsible for setting up and programing a variety of machines such as CNC verticals, horizontals and lathes and overseeing their functioning. Responsibilities:

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawing, manuals, specification, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerance of finished work pieces, sequence of operation, and setup requirements
  • Uses SolidWorks/Mastercam or SolidWorks/SolidCam to complete all programming requirements
  • Determine the sequence of shaping operations and choose the correct tools required and validate program
  • Write or modify existing programs and stores them electronically
  • Operates CNC mill/lathe to perform various functions such as surfacing, reaming, boring, drilling, and tapping
  • Performs dimensional validation using micrometers, calipers, or relevant measuring tools
  • Setup mill by installing and adjusting vices and all material holding devices
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control data
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required


  • Have a minimum of five years of experience in full-time programming or 10 years of experience in a job shop environment of program, setup or program, set up and operate
  • Must be capable of reading blue prints, dimensional data, surface locations, and interpreting geometrical dimensions and tolerance
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is frequently required to walk
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
